ALLEN LYNN KENNER

1945 ~ 2021

Allen “Lynn” Kenner left this earthly life on November 27, 2021 at the age of 76.  Lynn was born on June 17, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Gwendal Kenner and June E. Wolf Kenner.  Lynn spent the majority of his life in Magna, graduating from Cyprus High School where he played in band. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Utah. He married his sweetheart, Ann Yancey in 1965 and started a family that grew to seven children. He was employed by Kenner Appliance, Kennecott Copper, and then Unisys until he retired. He and Ann were married for 56 years. He loved his children and grandchildren, and they will miss him.

Lynn spent much of his life playing clarinet in community orchestras: the West Valley Symphony of Utah, Taylorsville Symphony, and the Murray Band. When he was choosing an instrument to play at the age of six, his mother took him down to the music store. His mother asked him what he wanted to play. He said clarinet, and they purchased one. It wasn’t until years later that his mother found out that he wanted a cornet, but he couldn’t pronounce it correctly. He found a love for and excelled on the clarinet. He also picked up the saxophone and other wind instruments. He loved performing in symphonies and plays where he could share the joy he had in music.

Lynn was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He and Ann were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December of 1965.  He served as a Member of the Bishopric, Financial Clerk, Ward Clerk, and Ward Executive Secretary among other callings. He was also involved in scouting. He enjoyed serving.

Lynn is survived by his wife; seven children, G. Allen Kenner (Serena), Ann Richardson (Charles), Warren Kenner, Cassandra Armstrong (Forrest), Katherine Lemus (Rick), Elizabeth Kenner, and Benjamin Kenner; grandchildren, Daniel, Justin, Scott, Serena Jane, Matthew, Meghan, Marina, Nicolas, Isaac, Zoe, Lily, Anastasia, and Isabel; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Beverly Kenner, Norma Druce, and Gerry Kenner.

We would like to thank the caregivers at Auberge Care Center for their loving care of Lynn. They were angels who helped him make the transition.

Funeral services will be for the immediate family only due to lingering Covid restrictions. Interment will be at the Pleasant Green Cemetery, and services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Primary Children’s Hospital or your favorite community symphony.
