Bernard Trujillo

1944 ~2021

Bernard Francis Trujillo, passed peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was surround close by his loving family, holding both hands, receiving lots of hugs, kisses, tears, telling him how loved he was, what a great father, grandfather, and husband he was. He was reunited with family.

Bernard was born on September 9, 1944, to Mary Roger Trujillo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His mother Mary passed when he was only 16 months old. He was then, lovingly raised by his Aunt Amada Trujillo, who became Mom. They moved to Salt Lake City, UT when he was still in grade school. He began working as a paper boy at age 14 to help his mother. While in junior high school he became the Ice Cream man, driving a little ice cream truck through local neighborhoods. He also worked at Holy Cross Hospital cleaning the cafeteria, the kitchen and delivering meals to the patients. He received his Certificate of Attendance from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in May of 1964. He received his Diploma of the Confraternity High of Religion from the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Diocese of Salt Lake City in May of 1964. After high school he worked at AJAX Press-CECO. Then he worked at Utah Components. While working at Utah Components he married his high school sweetheart Betty. The rest of his 40 years of work, he worked at Kennecott Copper know as Rio Tinto until retirement in September of 2009. Where he is now known as a Legend. During his years at Kennecott he got the opportunity to attend Utah Technical College where he was granted a Diploma with a major in Building Construction in March of 1997. He also got the opportunity to travel to Spain and be a Spanish translator for his co-workers. During his years at Kennecott he was a member of the United Steelworkers USW Local 392 Union. In 1993-1994 he went with Valley Assembly of God’s men’s ministry to Alaska where he helped build a church building.

If you ever met “Bernie” you knew he had a heart full of love and compassion. If Bernie had the chance to get you alone, you would find yourself in a deep heart to heart conversation, or on a story telling adventure through memory lane.

Bernie was a thrill seeker, if you did any of the following things with him you knew it was going to be an exciting good time and that everything would be okay no matter what:  camping, fishing, cooking, BBQing, amusement parks, riding his motorcycles, attending many races at Bonneville Raceway/Rocky Mountain Raceway and Monster Jam in Vegas, and of course the WWF/WWE fights, doing back yard bon fires or just spending time at his resort condos, and spending time with his family. Not only could he show you a "good time," but he would show you what " HARD WORK" can pay off to be.

He is survived by his one and only love of his life, Betty, was loved by his 4 children and survived by his 3 children and their significant others; Wendy Trujillo (Sandon Bowers), Joe Trujillo, Danny Trujillo (Teresa Allison), along with 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren and newly found siblings. He was preceded in death by his son (Shane) and beautiful granddaughter (Trinity - Shane’s twin daughter), his parents, and grandparents.

Our sincere Thanks goes out to the Hospice Team from The Good Shepard (Nurse Barbara, Nurse Kim for going the extra mile with us the night of his passing, CNA Logan, Chaplin Chantel, Social worker Alan) for assisting us in providing the highest quality of life we possible could. Thanks family and friends for all the visits, love, and support. And a special thanks to the out of town cousins who called weekly.
