LOA HALES ANDERSON

1928 ~ 2021

Loa Jane Hales Anderson left this life and entered her true Home in the presence of Jesus on June 28th, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born September 26, 1928 in Magna, UT to Lester Joseph Hales and Lillian Leota Stone Hales. The youngest of nine children, Loa loved her family and extended family fiercely! She is survived by her three sons: Lewis R. Anderson (Linda), Glenn L. Anderson (Dori), and Arthur D. Anderson (Tamara), 10 grandchildren: Jodi Eastridge (Derrick), Sharlene Dunn (Joshua), Lewis D. Anderson (Tanya), Andrea Anderson, Daniel Anderson (Jodi), Christopher Anderson (Natalie), Breanne Tidwell, Ajl Anderson (Amber), Kathryn Anderson, Karianne Hunter (Bryan) and 17 great grandchildren.

Loa was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis D. Anderson, as well as all eight siblings: Frances Hales, Blanche Keiser, Arthur Hales, Leon Hales, James Golden Hales, Ronald Hales, Jimmy Hales and Helen Pearson.

Loa graduated from Cyprus High School, Magna, Utah in 1947, having also completed a Certified Nursing Aide Program as well as her diploma. She later worked at the LDS hospital as a CNA for 32 years before retiring to care for her husband in his last years.

During her years at Cyprus High she was active in Spanish and Psychology Clubs, planning dances and supporting the school teams. Go Pirates!

Loa met her future husband Lewis D. Anderson while they were both working at the Toole Army Depot. They ended up in Price, Utah and they were married by Reverend Carl Measell on January 27th, 1951.

While raised to love and serve God as she knew Him, it was in Price that Loa was introduced to the free gift of God’s priceless eternal life with Him. She was excited to realize her sins, past and future, were completely paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ the only Son, God in human flesh. She did not have to earn forgiveness- it was already hers for the asking. She understood through Scripture that Jesus lived a sinless life yet died a sinner’s death, breaking the curse of sin and death by taking our punishment, rising again to give us His eternal life. She humbled herself, repenting for thinking she had to earn God’s Holy presence. In faith, she gave her sin and even her good works in exchange for receiving Jesus’ perfect and complete righteousness and was spiritually born again, filled with God’s Holy Spirit for all eternity. From that day on, Loa served her Lord with joy and faithfulness first at the Price Christian and Missionary Alliance and then at the Salt Lake Alliance (now Discovery Christian Community).

Over the years she hosted, attended and led multiple Bible studies and Sunday School classes, impacting so many lives for Christ! Blessed with a beautiful alto voice and a passion for music, Loa sang with small groups, choirs and solos both in church services and at the Salt Lake Rescue mission. She served as deaconess and then Head deaconess for many years, as well as heading up the prayer chain ministry for decades. There is no way this side of heaven to understand the incredible dedication of this woman to prayer and the countless hours she spent on her knees interceding for the needs of others.

Her heart was open to all, her love of God the guiding force in her life, her prayers mighty, her gifts many, her support of others unending. She will be greatly missed even as she is greatly loved.

A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday July 3rd, 11:00 A.M. at the Discovery Christian Community Church, 5929 South 900 East, Murray, UT, 84121. A Potluck meal will be held directly afterwards.

Our heartfelt thanks also to Valeo Hospice and our wonderful Nurses and aides; Particularly Angie, Lisa, Mary and Claudette, and also Peal Mortuary for their services and support.
