Robert William Gardiner

1944 ~ 2021

Robert Gardiner passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on February 23, 2021. He was 76 years old. He was born in Ogden Utah in June 1944. He is survived by his wife Mickey, to whom he was married in 1967; their children Leslie (Dan) Moore, Addison Gardiner, Stephanie (Jeromy) Walden, Jocelynne (Brian) Broderick, and AnnaLisa Gardiner; as well as 10 grandchildren.

Bob lived his entire life in Utah. Having been nearly everywhere in the state, he had a few favorite places like the Uinta Mountains and Canyonlands. He enjoyed hiking, mountain biking and camping as often as he could. He was absolutely in his element outdoors!

Trains, computers and photography were just a few of his interests, and could discuss them for hours. He was interested in others’ opinions on those and so many other topics. He enjoyed learning new things just for the sake of learning. He was a true intellectual.

Bob could fix just about anything, and he loved the challenge of a project. He was genuinely kind, and would talk to everyone as if they were already friends. He had a calming presence, and he found the good in any situation. He was rock-steady, strong and there when anyone needed him. He was also incredibly funny!

When we kiddos were young, he would hold our hands while watching tv, let us comb his hair in wild and wacky ways, took us on the occasional tote goat ride, made us pancakes on the weekends, and for the most part didn’t mind having a few little question machines follow him around. We couldn’t wait to see what Dad would be working on!

We each have, love and cherish our own memories of Bob. We will miss him and love him always!

We have had Bob cremated so we can take him to his final resting places all over the state and with each of us. There will be no service at this time due to covid19. If a memorial service is planned for a later date, we will try to get the message out to as many people as possible. Until then, please share your favorite memories of Bob here, and any photos you may have as well. We’d truly appreciate it!
