Vaughn Edward Rice

September 24, 1941 – June 14, 2021

Vaughn Edward Rice was born September 24, 1941 to Lyle H Rice and Grace Berniece Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He married Kathryn Ann Smith on May 25, 1963. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake temple on June 24, 1969. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents.

Vaughn was a spiritual giant among men. He loved his family dearly. He loved learning and reading which never stopped. His love of the gospel is what shaped him into what he became. He loved to serve the Lord by always serving the people around him. He was the epitome of service which also never stopped until his health would no longer allow it. He was always among the first to welcome new families into the ward. Usually, while he was helping them move in, he’d invite them to dinner and let Kathy know how many to plan for dinner! This was his character. This was part of his great legacy. He loved the youth and was involved in the Boy Scout program as well as supporting the Young Women’s Girls camp programs. Simply put, he was very Christ-like and selfless and will be dearly missed. We know the Lord has prepared a mansion for him in eternity.

He leaves behind a devoted and loving wife, Kathy Rice, and five children – Mark Rice, Diane Christensen, Steven Rice, Cynthia Rice, and Corina Kiyaani.

He leaves behind 11 grandchildren – Emily Rice, Samuel Rice, Wendi Lowe, Ben Asper, Katie Asper, Adam Asper, Leland Rice, Abbey Baxter, Michael MacDonald, and Brian MacDonald, and Moroni Kiyaani.

He leaves behind three great-grandchildren – Vivian Lowe, Carter Asper, and Corbyn Baxter.
